What to do when your internet goes down or is unavailable.
Visit a library, coffee shop, or campus

You can find free or low-cost WiFi in public libraries as well as many businesses like coffee shops or fast-food restaurants. For security and privacy, it’s a good idea to use a Virtual Private Network to encrypt your web traffic when you’re using an unfamiliar network.
** Remember to wear a mask and practice physical distancing!
Use a mobile phone as a wireless hotspot
Many smartphones have an option to use the phone as a wireless hotspot so you can use your data plan to get internet access from a laptop or desktop computer. For security and privacy, it’s a good idea to set a password or otherwise choose security settings, rather than letting anyone use that hot spot.
Turn your modem off and on again
It’s a cliche for a reason: turn your modem off and on again, wait a few minutes, and see if that makes any difference.
Call your internet service provider
If you’re not getting the internet service you’re paying for from your provider, call them! They might not know there’s a problem yet and if you tell them, they might be able to solve it sooner. They might already know there’s an issue and be able to tell you more about what’s going on and when it may be fixed.
