The following matrix catalogs the current state of web transport security in place with UCI’s remote learning services. Students studying while abroad may find access to some services blocked, in which case a virtual private network (VPN) may be required to access them.

Tool – Name of the student remote learning tool (or support service) listed on TechPrep Keep Learning or the Learn Anywhere sites.
URL – Published URL of service
https – Service offers a secure http connection, generally over TCP port 443
TLS 1.3 – Service offers Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.3 connections with client web browsers. This is the most recent version of TLS.
TLS 1.2 – Service offers TLS version 1.2 connections. This version is superseded by TLS 1.3.
TLS 1.1 – Service offers TLS version 1.1 connections. This version of TLS is superseded by newer versions.
ESNI – Encrypted Server Name Indication (ESNI) is a draft standard that encrypts the website to which a web browser connects.
Domain… This domain is not accessible by residents of mainland China without using a virtual private network (VPN).
