If you already have broadband internet and you experience or think you may experience internet performance issues, please test your network speed first. Here are two test tools you may use:
If you see that your reported speed is less than what you expect, please try the following:
- Ensure there is no software running in the background on your system (e.g., Carbonite, a popular online backup application) at the same time you are trying to work.
- If available, try using the 5GHz WiFi option on your system – it is prone to less interference than the 2.4GHz option
- Try moving closer to your WiFi router. Radio frequency interference is a common source of slow performance.
- Plug your laptop or desktop directly to your router with an Ethernet cable.
If those actions do not provide relief, please call your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to explore upgrade options. Note: Residential ISPs do not allow us to call them on your behalf.
